About the Cell

A university should be a place where every student feels seen, supported, and able to participate fully.

The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) at Vishwakarma University has been set up in response to UGC guidelines for Equal Opportunity Centres and equitable opportunities for Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) in Higher Education Institutions.

The Cell works to support effective implementation of policies and programmes for disadvantaged groups, provide guidance and counselling on academic, financial, social, and other matters, and enhance diversity within the campus.

The Equal Opportunity Cell also aligns with India’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:

SDG 4 – Quality Education
SDG 5 – Gender Equality
SDG 1 – No Poverty
SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth

The Cell addresses the needs of SEDGs as emphasised in the National Education Policy 2020 and works towards creating a more inclusive, equitable, and supportive academic environment.

Objectives

The Equal Opportunity Cell aims to:

Improve equitable access to quality education for socio-economically disadvantaged groups
Extend and ensure basic facilities and amenities to socio-economically disadvantaged groups for inclusive, healthy, safe, and secure campus environments
Sensitise all stakeholders
Support policy implementation and monitoring
Equalise access to inclusive quality higher education
Ensure respectful dignity
Promote egalitarian and constitutional values
Support grievance redressal in the University
