At Vishwakarma University Pune, the Department of Artificial Intelligence prepares individuals for careers ahead of their time through training aligned with advances in smart systems. Though change sweeps rapidly through industries, study remains rooted in core areas - machine learning appears alongside natural language processing, robotics grows beside computer vision, and data science weaves throughout. Instead of isolated work, shared inquiry takes centre stage as researchers connect artificial intelligence with fields like healthcare, finance, and engineering.

Backed by advanced labs, with up-to-date computing systems and practical training paths, the department places focus on real-world tasks, work placements, and shared inquiry efforts. Hod Message

The Department of Artificial Intelligence was established in 2023, and the first programme introduced was the B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, which originally started in the Department of Computer Engineering with an intake of 120 students in the academic year 2020-21. Subsequently, in the academic year 2023-24, two more programs were launched: B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence and B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, with intakes of 60 and 120 students, respectively.

The department is well-equipped to support these programmes, featuring state-of-the-art laboratories with the latest software and hardware. We have a strong track record of job placements, and our students undertake mandatory internships during their final year. Additionally, deserving students are offered part-time internships during their third year alongside their coursework. Our students excel in both academics and co-curricular activities and have established the "Visionary Club." This club organises expert lectures, programming contests, and provides a platform for acquiring and sharing software knowledge.

Our department boasts highly qualified and experienced faculty with expertise in various research fields, including Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Blockchain, and Cloud Computing. Faculty members lead and contribute significantly to centres of excellence such as the Research Centre of Excellence for Health Informatics, the Centre for Teaching and Learning, and the Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems. They also play key roles in university administration centres like the Centre of Women Empowerment, Alumni Cell, and Training and Placement.
