About the Clinic
Law becomes meaningful when it is used to create awareness, support communities, and improve access to justice.
The VU Legal Aid Clinic is a pro-bono legal services clinic established under the Department of Law in accordance with the mandates of the Bar Council of India. Through the clinic, students and faculty engage in activities related to legal advice, legal aid, legal assistance, and legal awareness.
At the clinic, you are encouraged to understand how legal knowledge can extend beyond classrooms and contribute towards social responsibility and community engagement.
The VU Legal Aid Clinic has actively worked towards spreading legal aid and legal literacy among vulnerable sections of society through initiatives such as:
National-level seminars and workshops
Lok Adalat visits
Street plays
Village camps
Jansunwai initiatives
Cyber crime sensitisation programmes for adolescents

The clinic was also awarded the Best All India Legal Aid Clinic Student Lawyer Team Award along with a cash prize of ₹10,000 at the National Level Legal Aid Competition organised by NLSIU Bangalore and the Department of Justice, Government of India under the DISHA (Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice) Scheme.
VU Legal Aid Clinic is committed to instilling values of social accountability among students through pro-bono legal aid services and aims to contribute meaningfully as part of the Nyaya Bandhu Pro Bono Club Scheme under the Department of Justice, Government of India.
To promote legal literacy and to counsel the vulnerable on socio-legal and legal issues for the greater good of the society.
